Mont Brown’s Miracle on 55th Street Spreads Holiday Joy

Residents of Southwest Philadelphia had a chance to enjoy one more celebration before Christmas during what is being called the Miracle on 55th Street where community organizer Mont Brown held a winter festival on 55th and Chester Avenue on Dec. 23.

Excited children flocked to 55th Street to enjoy the free food, music, games and of course, an opportunity to meet jolly ol’ Saint Nick himself who was present and gave out hundreds of gifts to local children.

“For many children and families, the holiday season is challenging,” said Mont Brown. “This is an opportunity for me to hopefully bring a little holiday joy and cheer to my community.”

Christmas on the Avenue was sponsored by On Point Communications, Daily Dove Care, The Partnership Project, Tasties, Legendary Support Coordination, The Overcame Foundation, We Mean Business and Sugar and Spice Kiddie Spa LLC in partnership with Power 99.

“I think it was amazing. We gave away 600 presents and it was my first time doing it and to see the children’s faces, it was priceless. We’re going to continue doing it every year,” Brown said.
